Hans Kuchelka
Key Account Manager. DuPont Performance Polymers
I think it is cool to work for a company which has been very innovative with products everybody knows and uses everyday like Nylon and Teflon®

I studied mechanical engineering (specializing in plastics). During my studies I worked at the plastic institute of my University (IKV - Institut für Kunststofftechnik an der RWTH Aachen) as a student helper and through this work I realized that working for a plastic raw material supplier might be very interesting. As a raw material supplier you are not focused on one sector, company or application and you get a great overview of the plastic grades and the plastic industry.

With the ambition to find work in this business I was invited to apply for a position as a sales representative for DuPont. Initially I was a little bit reserved because I did not see myself as a sales person. So I went to the interview with the feeling “it is a nice and interesting company, but this job in sales is not the right one for me”. The interview however changed my opinion as I realized that while it is a sales job it still involves at least 50% technical work and most importantly there was a high potential to develop myself. Besides that I liked the relaxed atmosphere during the interview and the employment conditions contributed to my positive feeling (company pension plan, adequate salary, flexible working hours). With a positive conclusion to the recruitment experience I started working for DuPont in 2011.

I think it is cool to work for a company which has been very innovative with products everybody knows and uses everyday like Nylon and Teflon®. And DuPont does not stop being innovative, for example with its bio based products portfolio.
